Finding True Love

Think about how often people say “I love you.” Yet their actions often fail to match these words. That’s because selfishness can cause people’s love to become conditional and temporary. This kind of love is not true love. Yet God’s love is perfect. Love is such a huge part of His character that the Bible plainly says “God is love” (1 John 4:16).

God’s love is unconditional. It does not depend on anything you do. Sometimes people’s love for each other is conditional, and they stop loving others when they make mistakes or act a certain way. God’s love is different. He does not stop loving someone even when that person rebels against Him and disobeys Him. Rather, God forgives everyone who is sorry for their disobedience. There is nothing you can do to keep God from loving you.

God is willing to go to extremes to show His love. He sent His own Son, Jesus, to die for you so that you can experience His true love in a relationship with Him. He offers you the opportunity to accept His love. The question is not whether God loves you, but what you will do in response.

On the outside I would seem very secure and loved but that all changed when I started believing that I am not as cared for as I once thought, that I do not matter to the people around me and their friendship is merely a gesture of obligation.
