Nothing on earth is permanent. People die. Jobs end. Cars crash. Plans change. The things that make up daily life are fragile, and when they change they often lead to disappointment.
An unsatisfied desire for consistency has overtaken many people’s hearts. Although they know that things in their lives are fragile, they try to rely fully on things that can potentially change and, therefore, disappoint them. Perhaps you have wondered if there is anything that can ever be completely relied on or if there is anything that always be constant.
Though you can’t count on anything in this world, you can always rely on God. The Bible says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17). God does not change and is always there for you. He desires for you to begin a personal relationship with Him so that you can experience His unchanging character and love.
