Nick L.'s Story

Salvation

This is my story of coming to know Christ.

My name is Nick Larison before sharing my story I want to share how truly blessed I was to have the parents that God gave me.

My mother - a woman of amazing character - always genuinely wanted to know what was going on in my life from school to girls and relationships to sports and future goals. My mother always cared enough to ask. When I was growing up my mother was always home, usually working, but always home. Looking back on that today, that helped so much because my mom was able to help me and be around to have some fun in between all of her work. The funny part was that typically I didn’t need anyone to keep me occupied. That skill of being able to always keep yourself occupied at any given time of any given day stuck with me through all of my life.

My dad was always working (or busy) and always thinking. The most amazing part about my earthly father was that God gave him the talent to create and tear apart anything. He was the person that everyone went to if something didn’t work or when they needed something created/designed.

Once I moved off to college something amazing happened to me. I was simply invited to church with some of the Guys from my floor. Learning later that the small mustard seed of asking someone to church would be the seed that completely changed my life. I began attending church during the fall of my freshman year at Ball State University. Thank God for a man by the name of Drew Stevenson - this was the man that God used to lead me to HIM. I finally accepted Christ into my life toward the middle of winter of that year. It wasn’t until the summer after my first year of college that things really began to change. During that year Drew had given me a bible and constantly encouraged me to read. During that summer I was really drawn to scripture, learning to love it and desiring to read it constantly. That was the point that I finally accepted Christ into my HEART.

I found a verse that applied to me before I knew anything of Jesus. “For if those who live by law are heirs, faith has no value and the promise is worthless, because law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.” Romans 4:14-15…

Before knowing Christ I was solely living by the law/rules. After finding Christ and realizing that much of the law/rules in my head were biblically based, I was finally able to establish truth for what I stood for. A final verse that I would like to share with you is from a friend's funeral. This is a verse that he wrote in his journal the night before his death. “Be faithful even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.” Rev 2:10…..and my final prayer is that all of you will place your hope in the lord and be able to hold onto this “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,” Phil 3:20
