Cory Clayton's Story

Greater than Pleasure

It was then that I knew that there was more out there for me, that there was something greater than my instantaneous pleasure. . .

When I was younger I had been to church a couple times, and I had what then I considered a decent set of morals. You know, don't drink, don't have sex, don't kill anyone, the basics. But when put to the test, there was nothing backing them. It began with my girlfriend at the time, Anina. At first it was just kissing, then to progressed to kissing and touching. Which led to kissing and touching naked, which led to having sex on every occation we had the chance.

The entire time, I knew in the back of my head that what I was doing was wrong, but it felt so good, I just didn't care. I tried a couple times to slow it down, but I always talked myself out of it before I mentioned anything. I was too caught up with making myself feel good.

Then one day it all fell apart, Anina told me she was pregnant. I didn't know what to do, I was seventeen, in my junior year in highschool, and I was going to make something of myself. I wasn't that kid who had a child in highschool, but I was. And I was scared.

Luckily for me God did not have it in His will for me to be a father yet, it turned out that she wasn't pregnant.

It was then that I knew that there was more out there for me, that there was something greater than my instantaneous pleasure, it took me a while to act on it, but I knew that I was not where I was suppose to be. I need to start afresh. God provided a way out. I had to stop seeing Anina, and just get myself out of that whole life style.

It took me a while to figure out what what to do. But God was slowly drawing me in. I began to be interested in church again. Soon after I also "found" an incredible, God seeking girl, which I have had the pleasure of starting a relationship with. With her help, and much more by God, I was able to see the only way to truely live, and experience lasting joy is to live in Chist. There I started my new life, a life in Christ.

Since then I have had my share of struggles, but I have had God to rely on when I was in trouble, and He always picks me up.
