Brent Louie

I'm studying Management at Georgia Tech. I live in Atlanta, GA and enjoy hanging with my friends, rugby, traveling and basketball. Odd fact: I've never lived in one spot more than 4 years.

Brent Louie's Story

Finding God through Friends

I began to get involved with two distinct crowds. I had my rugby team, whose motto is: "Our drinking club has a rugby problem", and then there was the church.

A very critical time in my life was when I was a freshman at Georgia Tech. I did not know anyone at the school, and like much of my life I began to get involved with two distinct crowds. I had my rugby team, whose motto is: "Our drinking club has a rugby problem", and then there was the church. I struggled between these two lives for the first month of school or so.

Then God did something very amazing in my life. On a retreat with Campus Crusade for Christ, I broke my first bone. I broke my tailbone playing frisbee of all things! This was at first a very disappointing thing in my life. I would now be limited physically in my activities. During the two months or so of recovery, it was not the rugby team who called me up to see how I was doing. Instead it was the Christians who I had met who would bring me meals, drive me to my classes, and write me letters of encouragement.

God was showing the love that He has for me through His body of believers. I was not only physically broken, but spiritually broken during this time. I began to realize that God really has a great desire to love me.

God lavished so much love on me during this time, and since then I have experienced God's love in many more ways. I have since begun to experience a direct and intimate love from God.

I finally can understand what it means when people say that they have a personal relationship with God.
